D E S C R I P T I O N

Interactive audio installation composed by several loud speakers placed at the top of the gallery.

The sound / work is activated when the visitor / user stands inside the active zone (by walking thru the gallery). Each loudspeaker represents certain part of my apartment and transmits sounds that refer to that part of an apartment.

Gallery must be in total darkness. In the darkness there is no visual information - signs or symbols for associations; a visitor in darkness is “invisible” and free to explore the work. The work is freed from all the things that estrange art from itself, especially of social contexts (it doesn’t matter how the visitor behaves, with who he came, how he has dressed, etc.).

C H A N N E L S O F T R A N S F E R

The voice is leading visitor thru the gallery describing the place of my home. By memory it describes place and situation and places them in real place.

It starts with literal description of my apartment, and gradually it starts to describe my inner state caused by moving from Split to Ljubljana.

This work is dealing with identity, not/belonging and nostalgia for home, so voice was a perfect carrier of the work; because of its non materiality (voice fades into nothing).

C O M M U N I C A T I O N

Communication is taking place in two phases: by sound and motion. Sound is creating sensitive sensations and motion is stimulating visitors to explore the work and participate in it; creativity of visitor’s moving is proportional to creativity of the work.

P R O T O C O L S

Trick is in a relation between manipulation and freedom.

The question is does visitor wants to enter into dark place and explore it and is this situation unpleasant for him. The darkness in gallery can suggest that the visitor is being manipulated by the artist, though it’s quite opposite-the visitor has a freedom to behave as he wants and a possibility to explore the work on the way he wants, also work cannot start without the visitor.

However, manipulation with visitor is in his double role: he is a visitor and necessary user at the same time.

R E S U M E

Role of an artist is partly modificated; he is an initiator and mediator of communicative act.

O P I S

K A N A L I P R I J E N O S A P O R U K E

Glas vodi posjetitelja kroz prostor galerije opisujući prostor mog doma.

K O M U N I K A C I J A

R E Z I M E

Uloga umjetnika donekle je modificirana, on je u ulozi inicijatora i medijatora komunikacijskog čina.
